Paige & Josiah, are a husband and wife fine art wedding photo & film co. providing fine art, light and bright photographs and videos for the authentic and timeless. Their art is story-centered and editorial in styling for laid-back, in-love, and luxurious couples in Missouri, Arkansas and beyond.

Today, I’m pulling back the curtain to share a glimpse into the strategy behind a recent repositioning project, where we used a strategic name change and refined messaging to elevate the perceived value of their photo + film services.

There are some brand projects where the goal is simply to make a business look more elevated. And then there are projects where the visual identity is only one piece of a much bigger transformation.

When Paige + Co. (their former business name) initially reached out, there was an opportunity to create a brand that could better communicate who they are, how they serve their couples, and where they are going next. This wasn’t simply a photography and videography business. It is a husband-and-wife team with two lead shooters, two complementary perspectives, a deeply personal approach to the wedding day, and a genuine belief in the significance of marriage.

The new brand was designed to make all of that more visible. We repositioned the brand, executed a business name change, designed a new brand identity and website to achieve this.

Renaming & Repositioning the Brand

One of the most important strategic shifts for this project was repositioning Paige and Josiah as an equal creative team.

The business had naturally evolved from primarily being Paige’s business into a husband-and-wife photo and film studio. Josiah was becoming increasingly involved in wedding days, brands and commercial videography, shooting alongside Paige and taking on more responsibility behind the scenes.

But the brand hadn’t fully caught up with that evolution.

The goal wasn’t simply to put two people on the About page. It was to establish Paige & Josiah as two lead shooters with complementary strengths, creating an experience that feels intentional from the very first interaction. They are two talented creatives who bring something different to the wedding day, working together to make their couples feel comfortable, celebrated and genuinely cared for.

Josiah brings something particularly meaningful to the experience: an ability to connect with grooms. In an industry that naturally tends to center the bride, he has a gift for making grooms feel seen, comfortable and fully involved in the experience. That became an important part of the story we wanted the brand to tell.

Brand Direction

Visually, their ideal clients are drawn to the classics.

Think black and white imagery, Ralph Lauren, the Hamptons, old-world details, hydrangeas and elegant celebrations that feel considered rather than overly styled. They don’t want a brand that feels tied to whatever happens to be trending this year. They want something that can grow & evolve with their artistry. So rather than leaning into trendy typography or an overly stylized identity, we focused on creating something classic, editorial, refined and elevated, with warmth and movement.

Goals

1. Position them as a high-end, highly personal husband-and-wife photo + video team

The strongest differentiator is not simply that they offer both photography and videography. It is the experience created by two people with complementary strengths working together.

The brand should communicate:

  • Two lead shooters, not a primary photographer + second shooter
  • Photo + video under one creative team
  • A highly personal, energetic wedding-day presence
  • Genuine connection with both the bride and groom
  • A team that knows how to make couples feel comfortable and celebrated
  • An experience that feels elevated without becoming cold or impersonal

2. Own the upper-mid / elevated market, not “ultra luxury”

The opportunity is to become the obvious choice for couples who want an elevated, polished, high-end experience but still want warmth, personality and genuine connection.

The brand should therefore feel:

high-end + approachable
polished + personal
elegant + energetic
refined + warm

Rather than:

exclusive + distant
stuffy + overly formal
trend-driven luxury

This allows the brand to support higher pricing while remaining aligned with their actual lifestyle, geographic market and desired clientele.

3. Make the experience a primary differentiator

Their work is beautiful, but beautiful imagery alone isn’t enough to justify the positioning they want. The brand should sell what it feels like to be photographed and filmed by them:

  • cared for
  • known
  • celebrated
  • comfortable
  • energized
  • genuinely supported

They described themselves as being very involved with the couple and family, advocating for both people and bringing energy to the wedding day. Their client experience is already strong; the brand’s job is to make that value visible before someone ever gets on a call.

4. Build a stronger emotional connection to marriage itself

This is deeper than simply documenting a wedding. Their faith informs a genuine belief in marriage, and they see their work as a way of celebrating the beginning of a marriage and giving couples something that can remind them of their commitment and vows years later.

The strategic idea is: They aren’t simply preserving what a wedding looked like. They’re preserving why the couple got married in the first place.

That gives the photography and films greater emotional significance and creates a meaningful foundation for the brand story.

We repositioned their core offering (photo & film package) to The Heirloom Experience: Photography & videography that honors your legacy, celebrates your commitment, and inspires the marriage to come.

Visual Brand Strategy

Keep the recognition, elevate the execution.

The existing blue is already associated with the brand, so the strategy is not to abandon the recognizable foundation. Instead, build a more sophisticated palette around it.

Rather than abandoning a recognizable brand element, we elevated it by building a more sophisticated palette around it with greens, creams, whites and refined neutrals.

The result feels more mature without feeling disconnected from the brand their clients already know.

Color direction:

  • Established blue as an anchor
  • Layered greens
  • Creams / whites
  • Refined neutrals
  • Subtle additional tones rather than a highly colorful palette

The visual identity should feel sophisticated enough to support increased pricing while still feeling like them.

For their main submark we designed an interlocking P&J to symbolize not only their creative partnership but also symbolizing their marriage. Paige & Josiah were interested in exploring a truly unique shape for their logo to further differentiate their brand so we landed on this beautiful elongated, ornate vertical frame with flourished detailing.

Because Paige & Josiah offer both photography and videography, movement became an essential part of the website experience.

We didn’t want to create a photography portfolio and simply add a few videos throughout. Video needed to feel like part of the brand itself.

Cinematic clips, drone footage, movement and dynamic moments (like this bingeable Netflix style scroll) throughout the site help communicate something that still imagery can’t: what it feels like to be there. It was a main goal to showcase full featured films throughout their site to pull at the emotional appeal that wedding videography has, something their previous site was missing.

It also creates a clear point of differentiation in a market filled with beautiful, light and airy photography brands, but few teams offering both photo and video with a cohesive visual style. Positioning you as one team for both creates a more seamless client experience while ensuring every element of their wedding story feels cohesive, intentional, and beautifully connected.

Here’s what Paige & Josiah had to say about working together…

“NONE of this would be possible without our talented designer @artfulbrands who thoughtfully and intricately took the time to get to know us, our vision, our brand, and our clients to make this all come to life (also in arguably the most chaotic year of our personal lives!) Katie took what we dreamed up, but couldn’t even articulate, to make the brand & website of our dreams. She has been the best investment we’ve made in our business and we can’t wait for you to see her stunning work!”
