Anyone who knows a few things about me knows that I love donuts. I am a firm believer that every Saturday morning should start out with coffee and multiple donuts (you can’t stop at just one). So this Saturday that is just what Tara (my sister-in-law) and I did. Tara is a fabulous cook and we had been talking about making homemade donuts for quite sometime now. She gave me a mini baking lesson while we made these little treats and it was the best start to a Saturday I’ve had in awhile. Tara has a fabulous food blog called Dabbling in Delicious where she writes about recipes, eateries and simple Saturday happinesses (my favorite section). You can find the donut recipe we used on Tara’s blog. Aside from being an amazing cook, she is a huge supporter of me and my business. I am fairly certain that there would be no shop if it wasn’t for her and all the encouragement she has given me along the way. We decided that there will be piles and piles of mini donuts with pink frosting and sprinkles at my launch party (I get giddy thinking about it).
I’ve been one busy illustrator lately. I am trying to find a balance between drawing, printing, packaging, shipping and promoting. I have just decided that this year is going to be hard while I figure it all out and that is just fine. I have amazing projects and people coming my way and that is all that I’ve ever wanted. So here is what I’ve been up to…
1// ::Friday:: I love this style! I decided these gals will be going into my shop eventually. They are so quirky and something different so I think making them into greeting cards would be best. I usually draw in this style when my work gets too stiff (you can see the lines in this piece are all over the place). I like my work to look like the gals are moving and convey a certain feeling.
2// packaging the first orders for my shop!
3// drinking a cup of joe and looking at endless amounts of children’s books for an upcoming project! (so excited for this…stay tuned)
4// dreams come true…piles of donuts.
5// ::checkers:: another quirky sketch
6// when you’re having a bad day, there’s always lipstick
7// ::psl:: a fall ensemble with a pumpkin spice latte in hand. Just in time for the change in weather these past few days. I’m pumped about it.
8// enjoying a “day off” with my nanny boys at Target Field
9// wide brimmed hat, oversized scarf, leopard print clutch, loafers and a coffee. She’ll be in the shop soon!!
xoxo,
Katie

I LOVE your hat. I have one similar but it just looks weird on me. 🙁
The picture with the wide brimmed hat isn’t me. That’s just a picture I illustrated. I love the hat too and I wish I could pull that style off but I stick to my beanies 🙂 thanks for reading!!
