It’s hard to sum up a day in words that you’ve been dreaming up and planning for a year and a half or more like your entire life. The photos will do a much better job of capturing the day than my words could so I’m excited to share with you all part 1 of our wedding day.

We got married at Aria on June 29th, 2019 in front of 200 of our family and closest friends.

I was surprisingly calm on our wedding day. I have never in my life been so sure of myself and that was the best feeling. Most of the day is blurry for me- I was completely overwhelmed and humbled with the amount of love and happiness Nick and I were experiencing together. I will never forget that once and a lifetime feeling of having all of your most treasured people in one room. What a gift that was.

There were so many special moments throughout the day that I never want to forget so I thought I would share them here to remember them forever. But before I get the rest of our photos back I wanted to share this preview with some of the details and vision behind our special day. I’ll also be highlighting the incredible vendors we worked with at the bottom of the post.

THE DETAILS

The first decision we made was picking out Aria as our wedding venue- it was the one and only venue we toured because my heart was set on it and thankfully Nick loved it the moment he walked in. I knew the character of the historical industrial venue with all the exposed brick and chandeliers would be the perfect backdrop for our day. Aria is nuzzled right in one of my favorite neighborhoods in Minneapolis, surrounded by amazing speakeasies and coffee shops that I frequent often in the north loop. We booked the venue way back in March of 2018 and it was the last date left for the summer of 2019 so June 29th it was!

Next up, I decided on our color palette, which was also an easy decision,. I knew I wanted a neutral, light, and airy feel with lots of organic greenery so we went with champagne, dusty pink, white, and burgundy as our main colors. It made for beautiful floral arrangements which was high on the priority list for me. We had white peonies, burgundy dahlias, champagne spray roses, white astilbe, and sand dollar eucalyptus in our arrangements by Florals by Claire. I absolutely loved my waterfall bouquet and the natural arrangements for my bridesmaids.

When it came to dress shopping, I tried on a few and fell in love with this dress from The Wedding Shop which was the perfect mix of modern and vintage. I loved the tattoo lace and vintage look of the top of the dress while keeping a sleek silhouette on the bottom. It was the perfect amount of glam and the lace paneling down the back and each side of the dress was just perfection. My stunning bridesmaids wore a dress by Vera Wang in a champagne color and The Cristina Ziemer Beauty did all of our hair and makeup. I can’t even begin to say how incredible she was to work with.

Another item that was extremely high on my must-have list was beautiful paper. Most brides dream of their dress but I dreamt of my invitations of course! I still have yet to share a photo of these but I designed an understated letter pressed wedding suite on a gorgeous cotton paper as well as our wedding programs with hand dyed silk ribbon.

Can we take a moment to just say MY MOM LOOKED INCREDIBLE. She was the real MVP from the last year and a half and did so much work behind the scenes communicating with all of the vendors to make sure everything was perfect. From tying 200 ribbons on programs at the last second to being at every single meeting and dress fitting to sending 5 million emails to editing our program and helping write our ceremony to keeping all of the wedding planning timelines on track- last but certainly not least, she solved the bridesmaid dress fiasco- she truly did it all. Thank you SO much mom! I’m so lucky to have you.

These golden hour photos are my absolute favorite. I love the editorial look they have but more so, I loved sneaking out of our reception with my new husband to dance on top of a parking garage to get these incredible photos with the city in the background.

This is just the photo preview that our incredible photographer Whitley McDonald sent over and it left me picking my jaw off the floor so I can’t wait to see the rest of our photos from the ceremony and reception. I have so much more to share.

So far being Katie Harms is the best thing ever. I just adore Nick and we are so happy to be husband and wife in this next chapter of our lives.
